Alfred Robledo grew up in a family owned and operated business in Downtown Los Angeles, CA. New York Drapery was started by his late father in the 70s; their business specialized in the making of drapes, roman shades, swags and cornice boxes. At only six years of age, Alfred started to learn the trade as a thread clipper for all finished drapes. Working side-by side with his father, Alfred eventually learned to love the trade and specialized himself in it. Alfred is confident in his work and assures his clients that he is the best swags, cascades and cornice box maker they will ever meet. At 18 years old Alfred became his father's business partner and consultant!
Alfred enrolled at Santa Monica Community College, where he took various courses on interior and architectural design to better understand his trade. In 2006 he became a licensed self-contractor and embarked on his own business.
Alfred moved to the Bay Area in 2008 and started his own business, Alro, as a single-man operation. In 2014 Alro Custom Drapery Installation became incorporated and currently employs over ten people.
We are proud to share our industry knowledge with our clients and proudly label our business as family owned and operated. Alfred's brother and right-hand man, Danny Robledo, is a superior installer with amazing customer service skills.
Alfred's wife, Mar Y Sol Alvarado, manages all the business aspects with a double major in business from Menlo College; she is highly qualified to handle the task!
